Press Release on Presentation of Credentials by H.E. Ms. Dawa Futi Sherpa, Ambassador of Nepal to Spain<\/h5>\r\n<\/header>\r\n

Her Excellency Ms. Dawa Futi Sherpa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary\u00a0of Nepal to Kingdom of Spain,\u00a0presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Felipe VI amidst a special ceremony held at Madrid Royal\u00a0Palace Madrid, on 24 January 2020.<\/p>\r\n

After presenting her credentials His Majesty invited, HE Ambassador, Ms. Sherpa, together with the Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, to go with him to the Saleta del Nuncio next to the Official Chamber, where they had a short conversation about Nepal and Spain Bilateral relation.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

His Majesty congratulated the Ambassador and also expressed his best wishes to the\u00a0Right\u00a0Honourable President of Nepal.\u00a0 He fondly remembered his informal visit to Nepal and conveyed his wish to go back to the country again someday.\u00a0 His Majesty expressed his best wishes for Ambassador Sherpa\u2019s successful tenure and expressed happiness on the growing relations between Nepal and Spain over the years. He inquired about\u00a0the\u00a0developments on reconstruction efforts\u00a0after the devastating earthquakes of April 2015 and also the effects of climate change\u00a0in\u00a0Nepal.<\/p>\r\n

HE Ms. Sherpa conveyed cordial greetings and message of friendship of the Right Honourable President Mrs.\u00a0Bidhya Devi Bhandari, and Right Honourable Prime Minister\u00a0Mr.\u00a0K P Sharma Oli to His Majesty King Felipe VI. HE\u00a0Sherpa also thanked His\u00a0Majesty\u00a0and the Government of Spain for warmly receiving her in the beautiful country.<\/p>\r\n

The\u00a0Ambassador updated His Majesty about the current stable political situation of Nepal\u00a0and the Government\u2019s effort\u00a0to\u00a0achieve the long term motto of\u00a0\u201cProsperous Nepal Happy Nepali.\u201d\u00a0She also briefed the Majesty about the climate change event Sagarmatha\u00a0Sambaad scheduled from 2-4 April 2020\u00a0and Visit Nepal\u00a0Year\u00a02020.\u00a0She expressed her commitment to exploring more avenues of mutual cooperation and further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\r\n

The ceremony was attended by\u00a0Secretary General and\u00a0Chief of Protocol\u00a0from the\u00a0Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. The\u00a0Chief Protocol Officer of the Royal Palace, the Embassy\u00a0official\u00a0and Spanish Media\u00a0were also present at the ceremony.<\/p>\r\n
